AICS & FIRA MEDITERRÀNIA DE MANRESA


Fira Mediterrània Manresa is a Performing Arts Fair rooted in Mediterranean tradition. It has two main areas of focus: popular culture (based on elements that include the transfer of heritage, the crossover between contemporary creation and traditional regional culture, participation in the social foundations of culture) and music (traditional and contemporary music representative of local regions, with a special emphasis on musics of the Mediterranean Origin).


It has been held every year since 1998 and has become a forum for professionals exchange.

Fira is an interdisciplinary event and the program covers all artistic languages – visual arts, circus, dance, exhibitions, music, storytelling and theatre.

The programmed shows are in different formats - small, medium or large-scale - in venues or in streets, aimed both adult and family audiences.

The 21st edition will be held from 4th to 7th October 2018.

In addition, the Business Area is an outstanding point of contact and sale both in the performing arts sector (circus, family shows, street performance, etc.) and in that of world music.

Fira aims to:
Boost the implementation and dissemination of national and international projects wich fuse  contemporary creativity with traditional and regional culture;
Is the nerve centre of trends and ideas in the realm of traditional culture and promotes connections with community work and participation to increase people’s involvement in culture;
Consolidate its reputation as a leading world music market in Spain;
Promote the export Catalan artists and culture;
Act as a gateway into Spain for howcases international theatre and music projects;
Act as a connection hub for professionals on an international scale.

Fira Mediterrània Manresa has a national and international action plan to broaden horizons by opening up new areas of operations and renew the main partnership agreements from previous years. In 2017, a total number of 30 significant new ventures were planned for 15 countries and regions in Europe, Africa and the Americas. The Plan is based on initiatives for artistic, professional and communications-based exchanges and co-productions, and its main goals are to boost workflow and open up new mechanisms for exhibiting Catalan art and creativity.
